Both bathrooms have been completely renovated and were long overdue.
The main bath was first on the hit list, April 2009. Very 1970’s in style (were brown fixtures and brown grout really a “thing”?) and in dire need of a face lift, I jumped in. Once again Allan was kind enough to offer assistance at just the right times. Thank you Allan.
All was taken down to the bare wallboard and plywood floors so it was a pretty thorough renovation. The layout didn’t change except for the sink position so plumbing was not overwhelming. New window and a ceiling heater/light/vent fan which is actually now connected to an exterior vent (surprise! Plumbing and the fan were found to be venting into the attic) along with the associated wiring and such all rounded out the fun. Biggest surprise = TWO ceramic floors, one on top of the other, including lath under each. Not a joy to remove. Scariest surprise - Finding the toilet, shower and tub all vented into a closed, inaccessible attic. Hmmm...methane gas. Good thing I opened the ceiling.
A few “before, during and after” pictures. Only the highlights...
