The Bronx Zoo has been an important part of our family life since Jessica was just a little munchkin. We joined as members after discovering the Wildlife Conservation Society had been renovating and setting up areas designed for the comfort and safety of animals instead of just what would give humans the best view.
The Gorilla exhibit is a favorite and is usually the first place we head to. Sadly, some other exhibits and attractions have had to close when the economy went south and budget cuts hit in 2009 and 2011. The Skyfari ride closed in 2009 too, but that may have been more connected to lawsuits after it was stuck in mid-air in 2008. A shame because it was a great shortcut between two opposite ends of the park.
I still maintain our membership even though we only get there two, maybe three times a year. Jessica has made a few trips on her own too.
